Chapter 3 The tea served refreshed Inspector Bakshi’s mood. He took a couple of sips paused and then a couple of sips more. He kept the half-filled cup on the table and wiped his mouth with a handkerchief. “So Mr.Khanna first of all I am sorry for your loss. We will get to the core of this and get to the culprit. In relation to the case I need to ask you a few questions. May I?” “Yes Inspector” Aditya said keeping his cup down on the table. Nek Ram was the only one still sipping the tea with a slurping sound and alternately picking up the biscuits which had been served along with. Inspector Bakshi looked at him sighed and looked back at Aditya. “So Mr.Khanna…” “You can call me Aditya” “Aditya, your father informed us you were on an official trip to Kolkata?” “Yes Inspector. I had a conference there which I attended” “When did you leave for Kolkata?” “A couple of days back, I had to take the train since there were no flight tickets available” “Can we...
Chapter 2 Inspector Bakshi yawned and fiddled with his phone in the front seat of the Gypsy. Nek Ram was concentrating in keeping his eyes open and focusing on the road ahead. It had been a couple of hours of rest and they were back on route to Anand Niketan. Instead of going back home Inspector Bakshi had slumped in his chair at the Police Station and managed to get some sleep. “Nek Ram what do you think about this case?” he tried to keep Nek Ram occupied from dozing off. “It’s too early to say anything Sir, but the murderer must have been known to the victim and knew details about the house. We will start with the Guard at the gate before we meet anyone from the family. I want to know his version of the events last night” They reached the main gate of the colony. Inspector Bakshi alighted and approac...

Inspector Bakshi took out a cigarette and lit it, the flicker of the light reflecting his tired face and the saggy lines. His Deputy Nek Ram sped the Gypsy through the alleys and by lanes maneuvering with precision. It was 01:00am and the call had come approximately five minutes back, a woman had been murdered in the posh locality of Anand Niketan. Inspector Bakshi was on his way home from a tiring day when he had to turn the vehicle around and head towards the crime scene. He sighed and remarked aloud to Nek Ram” So we were supposed to be in bed by now and look what we’ve got here. Why can’t these guys if they have to kill someone do it during daytime? At least it would leave us some time to get a good night’s rest” “Can’t say much Sir. It’s the call of duty. But yes if only we had some more time to ourselves it would be...
